Boar
Slow on an ordinary path, but hardy and much faster in flight.
Boars move slowly through the forest and at first seem easy to catch. In danger, however, they break into a much faster run. Their large bodies endure more damage than those of smaller forest animals and leave richer carrion. They spend more time resting at night and in rain, but still flee an immediate threat.
For a Magma, hunting a boar differs from hunting a hare: it is easier to keep in sight, but harder to bring down. Its visible size reflects the species' greater health and carcass value, not merely its appearance. Like other forest animals, its population does not recover after disappearing.
