Nectar and the founding reserve
Nectar is an investment in further nests, not food for immediate hunger.
Ripe nectar is taken from a vein as an orange parcel and can be carried and set down like other cargo. In a nest it belongs to the species' nectar reserve. It fills no hunger bar and is not turned into food. Because every slime has only one cargo slot, carrying nectar still competes with food and movable stones along the way. Its value lies in future growth, not in feeding its carrier.
Finding and knowing
Nectar veins lie in the shared underworld. A colony does not know them merely because the world was created or because a free camera can see them, but only through actual exploration. Once exposed or brought to the surface, nectar can be carried by any species.
New and lost queens
While the colony has a living queen, enough stored nectar becomes a lasting right to found another nest. If a species has lost every queen, the same reserve can instead turn a suitable individual of its own in an existing nest into a new queen. Food parcels still pay for ordinary births; nectar does not replace them.
