Glowing Cave
The Glowing Cave is the home biome of Gloom.

Cave plate · Crystal light reveals paths without displacing the dark.
Life in muted light
Deep darkness, rocky ledges, roots and violet crystal fields give the Glowing Cave its name. Though part of the surface, its ambient light remains faint even by day. For Gloom, this creates a continuous refuge where darkness and food may be found together.
Crystal fields and water
Raw crystals are Gloom's natural food. Surface deposits are used up when eaten or collected, but regrow in limited numbers near permanent crystal fields. A single connected body of water further divides the biome and sends overland routes around its banks. Narrow rocky ledges and roots mean that not every seemingly close source can be reached directly.
Home of Gloom
Gloom found their natural colonies here. The subdued light supports their particular need and shelters them from the sunlight of open biomes. Their own nest still matters: it offers reliable refuge, stores and access to underground crystal deposits. Dark terrain replaces neither food nor energy.
Light remains a danger
Time of day and rain alter the light that reaches this place too, but its low light ceiling keeps the landscape fundamentally dark. Another light source can break that shelter locally: active Aqua glow brightly enough to harm Gloom even at night or below ground. The biome offers safety through its surroundings, not complete invulnerability.
Among the crystals, the Gloom stayed still. Only when an Aqua entered the narrow path did it withdraw deeper into the dark.
Surface and burrow
The visible biome and the underworld beneath it are separate places. Discovering the Glowing Cave on the surface does not automatically reveal its shafts, portals or underground inhabitants. Only proximity and connections actually reached turn these details into knowledge held by the colony.
Limited stores
Natural food here centres on crystals. Mushrooms do not regrow in the Glowing Cave, and nectar veins belong to the forest underworld. When reachable crystals grow scarce, stored food parcels, new tunnels and links to other areas become more important. The dark biome shelters Gloom from sunlight, but cannot feed them without reachable deposits.
